Create an event

Create an event in the LiveTicket dashboard, add the tickets you want to sell, and activate the event when you are ready to open sales.

Before you start, have your event name, venue, dates, ticket prices, and capacity ready. Decide which currency to use and whether buyers should choose places on a seating chart: these choices cannot be changed after you create the event.

Open the dashboard and start a new event from Events.

  • The name of your event: enter the name buyers should see.
  • Description: explain what the event includes and anything guests need to know before booking.
  • Location: search for your venue or address and select the matching result.
  • When do we start? Set the event’s start date and time. Add an end date and time if you have one.
  • Ticket sales start? Set this if you want sales to begin at a particular date and time. This is separate from the event’s start time.

Check the venue and dates before continuing.

If seating is enabled for your organisation, How are tickets sold? gives you two options:

  • General admission only: buyers choose a quantity of tickets without a venue map.
  • Seating chart: buyers choose seats or standing areas on a map. You will set up and publish the chart after creating the event.

This choice is fixed once the event exists. For help with the map, see Use a seating chart.

3. Select the currency and create the event

Section titled “3. Select the currency and create the event”

Choose Event currency carefully. You cannot change it after creating the event.

If your organisation has more than one payment processor available, select the one to use for this event.

Use the create button at the bottom of the form. LiveTicket creates the event and opens the form for your first ticket type.

Create one ticket type for each option buyers can book, such as Standard, Early Bird, or VIP.

  1. Enter a name and, if useful, a description.
  2. Set the price. Use 0 for a free ticket.
  3. For general admission, enter the quantity available. For a seating-chart event, assign the ticket type to seats or a standing area on the chart; the chart determines capacity.
  4. Check the ticket type’s status and save your changes.

Add more types from Ticket Details in the event menu. The advanced settings let you set purchase limits and a sales period for an individual type.

For a seating-chart event, finish assigning ticket types and publish the chart before opening sales. Types that are not mapped to the chart stay hidden from the shop.

For detailed instructions, see Create ticket types.

Open the event’s Overview and review Next Steps. Complete payment setup if prompted, then use Activate your event when you are ready. Check that your ticket types are active and that their sales dates allow bookings.

You can customise the shop under Webpage Design and the tickets under Ticket Design.

Open the shop link from the event overview and check the name, venue, dates, prices, and ticket availability before sharing it with guests. If you scheduled sales for later, buyers will need to wait until that time to book.

Return to Event Details to edit the event information, or Ticket Details to manage tickets. The currency and the choice between general admission and a seating chart remain fixed.

If tickets are not available, check event activation, ticket status, sales dates, and remaining capacity. For seating-chart events, also check that the chart is published and the ticket types are assigned.
