Create ticket types

A ticket type is an option guests can book, such as Standard, Early Bird, VIP, or Child. Create a separate type for each option that needs its own price, quantity, or sales period.

You need an event first. If you have not created one yet, follow Create an event.

Open your event in the dashboard, choose Ticket Details, then Add Ticket. If you have just created an event, LiveTicket opens the first ticket-type form automatically.

  • Name: use a short, clear name that helps buyers choose the right ticket.
  • Description: explain what this ticket includes or who it is for.
  • Price: enter the price of one ticket in the event’s currency. Use 0 for a free ticket.
  • Status: choose Active when the type should be available for sale, subject to sales dates and capacity. Choose Deactivated to keep it unavailable while you prepare it.

All ticket types use the currency selected when the event was created.

For a general-admission event, enter Quantity: the total number of tickets available for this type. For example, you could offer 50 Early Bird tickets and 150 Standard tickets. Plan the quantities across your types to fit your venue’s capacity.

For a seating-chart event, capacity comes from the chart instead of an editable quantity field. Save the ticket type, open Seating Chart, and assign it to seats or a standing area with a capacity. Publish the chart before selling. A type that is not assigned on the chart stays hidden from the shop.

See Use a seating chart for the full setup.

Open the advanced settings if you need more control.

Under Purchase restriction, choose None, Per Order, or Per email address. When using a restriction, enter the minimum and maximum quantities in the fields shown.

For example, choose Per Order, set Minimum to 1 and Maximum tickets to 4 to allow between one and four tickets of this type per order.

Set a sales start and end date for this ticket type if it should be available only during a particular period. These are booking dates, not the event’s start and end dates.

For an Early Bird offer, set an end date for the reduced-price type and a later start date for the Standard type. Use explicit dates if you want a timed change between the two.

If tax options are displayed, select the ones that should apply to this type.

Choose Save changes. Repeat Add Ticket for each additional option.

Before sharing the shop, check that the event is activated, the ticket types are active, and their sales dates allow bookings. Open the shop link from the event overview to review the names, prices, and availability buyers see.

Return to Ticket Details and open an existing type to edit it. Review changes carefully if tickets have already been sold: previously issued tickets may show the original name and price. For a new offer, you can deactivate the old type and create another.

If a type is unavailable, check its status, sales dates, remaining quantity, and the event’s activation and sales start. For a seating-chart event, also check the assignments and that the chart is published.
